Now in the fifth generation of ownership by the Cunliffe family, the Gilpin comprises two hotels run by one close-knit team. Set a mile apart in the spectacular scenery of the Lake District, guests can choose between a chilled modern hotel and the country house charm of the Lake House, surrounded by 100 acres of grounds. 

At Gilpin Hotel you’ll be surrounded by 21 acres of grounds glittering with streams and fish-stocked ponds that can be explored via a network of paths. Here each of their 30 bedrooms boasts enchanting Lakeland vistas, with the majority offering direct access to the lush gardens. Among them, 6 Junior Suites and 6 Garden Suites beckon with their own decked or slate patios, complete with private outdoor hot tubs. For those seeking an even more indulgent escape, their 6 Spa Lodges feature ensuite spa facilities, including rainmaker showers and indoor steam rooms, complemented by hydrotherapy hot tubs and outdoor saunas. The 6 ultra indulgent Spa Suites redefine opulence with a bedroom seemingly 'floating' over a serene pond, showcasing mountain panoramas. These suites also encompass a spacious living area replete with a lounge, dining table, and bar, an oversized circular stone bath, double shower, a sumptuous spa room housing a sauna, steam room, infrared lounge bed, and state-of-the-art automated massage chair, all enhanced by a generously sized outdoor hot tub.

While at Gilpin Lake House with its sweeping staircase, floor-to-ceiling windows and log fire you can be among just a dozen guests enjoying your own private lake with boathouse, hot tubs, saunas and swimming pool. And in the evening chauffeurs will ferry you to the main hotel for dinner at one of the two restaurants.

Michelin Starred Source at Gilpin Hotel, where Ollie Bridgwater and his brigade carefully curate menus that focus on beautiful local produce, distinct flavours, seasonality, sustainability and precision, and the 2 AA Rosette Gilpin Spice which sees Tom 'Westy' Westerland and his team serve up delicious pan-Asian dishes inspired by the spice trail from their open-kitchen. 

Spa treatment rooms are open to guests at both hotels, including their brand new SpaSpace which launched last year year - all are staffed by the Gilpin’s own expert therapists.
