Nuzzled in the dramatic Highlands of Northeast Scotland, the Fife Arms in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, offers a truly unique experience.

Built in the 19th century, The Fife Arms Hotel is a Braemar landmark and category B listed building situated in a region of Scotland much loved by Queen Victoria, who frequented the area before acquiring Balmoral.

Guests will be able to take in the dramatic landscapes offered by the Cairngorms and immerse themselves in nature and the local history of Braemar, a historic town famous the world over for hosting the annual Highland Games.

The giant Victorian seat was reimagined by owners and co-presidents Iwan and Manuela Wirth, who lovingly restored and reopened the venue in 2018.

Some 46 individual guestrooms and suites have been decorated lovingly with no attention to detail spared, and each offering their occupants a new story to learn with every visit.

Split into seven categories, including the Royal Suites, Victoriana Suites and Scottish Culture Rooms, guests will be treated to traditional Scottish design and touches of Highland nature in whichever room they choose.

The stunning Scottish landscapes may await you outside, but no doubt the Fife Arm’s cosy amenities will keep you in the bosom of the hotel for as long as possible. Begin your first evening in Bertie’s Bar, inspired by Queen Victoria’s hedonistic heir King Edward VII, with over 365 whiskies to explore of various flavour profiles.

Once you’ve had your fill of whisky and your appetite is ready to be quelled, the Clunie Dining Room, named after the River Clunie that runs past the hotel, will be on hand to impress with seasonal Scottish produce cooked on a wood-fire.

Having gorged on the very best cuisine served in one of Scotland’s most striking dining rooms – painted by artist Guillermo Kuitca – you’ll be ready for a digestif in either the Flying Stag or Elsa’s.

Traditionally the heart of the village, the Flying Stag is the hotel’s public bar and a place to mingle with other residents and visitors. It serves a range of real ales and live entertainment, as well as a beautiful, traditional, Scottish menu.

Elsa’s is a beautiful art deco cocktail bar designed and created to pay homage to iconic 20th century fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, a regular visitor to the town of Braemar, who loved shocking pink and high glamour.

A true retreat from everyday life, you will lose yourself in the Fife Arms and won’t want to be found again.
